    FAQ

    Common questions

Answers about security, formats, and limitations.

What type of encryption is used?
AES-256 — the modern encryption standard used by banks and government systems. Brute-force cracking is practically impossible.
What if I forget the password?
There is no way to recover the password for an encrypted PDF — not for us, not for you. Always store your password in a safe place.
Can I protect a PDF from copying while still allowing it to be viewed?
Yes — set an owner password that differs from the user password. This will restrict printing and text copying while allowing the document to be opened and read.
Will the protected PDF open on a phone?
Yes, most mobile PDF viewers (Adobe Acrobat, iOS Files, Android) support password prompts on opening.
Can I remove the password later?
Yes, if you know the password — use our Unlock PDF tool.
